What You Can Expect

CHANCE coordinates a robust, integrated campus-wide support system to help you succeed. As a student enrolled in the CHANCE Program:

  • You will take part in a leadership conference featuring speakers on various topics, such as career advice, managing stress, time management and negotiating campus.
  • You'll have the opportunity to join the nationally recognized honor society, Chi Alpha Epsilon.
  • You can apply to our University Honors Program. Honors students take specialized and challenging courses with smaller class sizes, are encouraged to volunteer and network with top NIU alumni and have access to a wider variety of scholarships, grants and fellowship opportunities.
  • You’ll be encouraged to participate in the many programs and services offered as part of the student experience at NIU, such as Study Abroad, service learning opportunities, the Huskie Marching Band and more.
  • You can become active in many of our more than 300 student organizations, including the Campus Activities Board. Many students enrolled in the CHANCE Program take on leadership roles.
