The Top 3 "MUSTS" for Incoming Students

  1. Send NIU an Official High School Transcript
  2. Turn in your immunization records to NIU Health Services
  3. Send in a record of your Official ACT Transcript

As A Parent...

Please encourage your student to complete the top 3 musts so they can register for classes in the spring.

As A Counselor...

I have witnessed students go through the frustration of having to register late because they did not complete the top 3. So it is in your best interest to take care of these business matters asap!

As A Student...

How will I know if I have completed the TOP 3? To see if you need to complete any of these tasks complete these steps:

  1. Go to: http://www.reg.niu.edu
  2. Click on the Webconnect link
  3. Sign on as a student with your Z number and password.
  4. Select the encumbrance button and you will be able to see if any campus departments have holds on your account. An encumbrance is a hold placed on your account which means you can't register or send out your transcripts.

What to do if encumbrances or holds appear on your account from the following departments:

  • Bursar: see your CHANCE Financial Aid Counselor you need to make arrangements to pay off your account
  • Admissions: see or call NIU admissions office, you need to either turn in your official HS transcript or ACT scores.
  • Health Services: you need to turn in your immunization records, call your High School and ask them to mail or fax your immunization records to NIU Health Services.
