Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C)

4-C is an excellent resource for parents who need to find childcare and/or financial assistance to help cover the cost of childcare.

4-C is a not-for-profit agency, which promotes cooperation, coordination, and sharing of resources to achieve quality childcare.  The provide support services to parents in Carroll, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties.

Sick Service for Tots and Teens

The Family Centre at Kishwaukee Hospital provides 24 hour childcare services for children who are sick.
Service restrictions & fees:

  1. Program does not provide care for children diagnosed with contagious disease.
  2. Ability to serve depends on the availability of open beds. 
  3. The service costs $3.00/hour and there is a 1 time $10.00 registration fee.

  1. Qualification can take from 1-2 years or over 5 years depending on points, so appy NOW!
  2. There are apartments and housing complexes scattered around DeKalb that accept section 8 vouchers from DCHT. Ask for a list of these apartments before or when you receive your section 8 voucher. 

*It is important to note that section 8 vouchers are issued in mass quantities.  This means that you will be competing with others for apartment spaces so you may want to call DCHT occassionally to find out when your voucher will be issued.  This will allow you some time to make arrangements.
