The priority deadline for completing your financial aid application is March 1st of every year. To apply for Financial Aid at NIU, you will need to complete the following:

• The current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can be obtained from any high school,college, or community college in your area.
• The FAFSA must be mailed to the address indicated on the envelope provided. Indicate NIU as your first college choice. By doing so, it will allow the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to forward information regarding your monetary award eligibility to NIU. The Financial Aid NIU code is: 001737.
