Greetings,
I want to welcome you NIU. My name is Joy'Ecstacy Bannister and I am a NIU-CHANCE alumna. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications-Media Studies. I am originally from the southside of Chicago and I love performing, acting, and dancing in particular.
My time at NIU was great! I had the opportunity to meet a lot of different people and partake in various activities. Without the CHANCE Program I would not have been exposed to as many opportunities as I was. Be grateful, proud, and embrace the fact that you have the opportunity to make a change in your life as well as somone else's. Like most of you, I too am a first generation college student and more than likely I have been through what you are going through, so if you need any advice or someone to talk to my door is always open.
Once again, I want to welcome you to NIU and I hope your time here is as exciting and enjoyable as mine. Make sure you learn from this experience.
